We are pleased to announce the publication of the CIGTEY e-book, Technology for the Youth: The Inspiring Potential of Civic and GovTech for Engagement, Participation and Inclusion, created through a €120,000 Erasmus+ KA220 Youth cooperation partnership led by Fundacja Eduvibes with partners in Poland, Ireland, Ukraine and Turkey. The project’s goal is to foster inclusion and active citizenship among young people with fewer opportunities by building practical confidence in civic and government technologies, while also strengthening the capacity of youth workers to support participation in civic life.

The e-book translates those ambitions into a clear learning journey that starts with what Civic Tech and GovTech are and why they matter for youth engagement today. It then moves into hands-on guidance on digital skills for civic engagement, including critical thinking, communication and collaboration, so that young people can navigate information, join public conversations and take part in democratic processes in an informed way.

The e-book shows how technology can strengthen inclusion by widening participation when it is designed and used accessibly. It also highlights how exclusion can worsen when barriers such as the digital divide, low digital literacy and inaccessible services are not addressed. The e-book includes practical guidance on digital safety and privacy, helping young people and youth workers protect personal information and recognise common online risks when using civic platforms or accessing public services online.

To keep the content grounded in real life, the e-book features country-specific case studies and examples of tools that young people and youth workers can use in everyday situations, from engaging with e-government services and information portals to connecting with youth supports and opportunities. This blend of concepts, practical steps and examples is designed to help young people move from interest to action, whether that means accessing services more confidently, contributing to consultations, or using digital tools for advocacy and social justice causes, including environmental activism.

The publication of the e-book is a key milestone within CIGTEY’s wider programme, which also includes an online training pathway for youth workers and a leadership programme for young people with fewer opportunities. The e-book will be shared directly with 32 youth workers and 72 young people, presented through national Youth Forums across the partner countries, and made available in English, Polish, Ukrainian and Turkish, with an online dissemination target of at least 1,000 views/downloads.
